Thanksgiving & Fall Gift Guide 2026: Hand-Painted Silk Scarves for Every Woman on Your List

Thanksgiving arrives twice in North America: October 12 in Canada and November 26 in the United States. Both are occasions built around a table, a host, and the people who made the year easier. A hand-painted silk scarf is one of the few gifts that suits all three — it needs no size, it packs flat, and it is genuinely wearable art rather than another candle.

Why a Silk Scarf Makes the Right Thanksgiving Gift

  • One size, every body. No guessing, no exchanges.
  • It travels. A 90 cm square folds into an envelope; a long scarf fits in a coat pocket.
  • It is a story. Each Wenzi design begins as a sketch in our Toronto studio before it is printed on 100% mulberry silk. The paper-to-silk process is part of the gift.
  • It arrives ready. Every scarf ships from Toronto with free shipping to Canada and the US. Want a handwritten card inside? Reply to your order confirmation with the message and we will tuck it in.

Gifts by Recipient

For the Host

The classic hostess gift problem: it has to be thoughtful without being heavy. A silk twilly solves it. At $39 CAD it ties onto a handbag, a ponytail, or a wrist, and it slips into a card envelope. The Botanical Harvest is the obvious autumn pick — harvest motifs for a harvest table.

For Mom

Choose a square she will reach for every week. The Arboreal Reverie mixes deep greens with a red-and-green border — it sits beautifully against a camel or grey coat and reads as autumn without being literal. If she prefers a long scarf for shoulders and evenings, the Arboreal Reverie long version shares the same artwork.

For the Quiet-Luxury Friend

She owns the good coat and the good loafers; she wants a scarf that whispers. Porcelain and Moonlit Menagerie A both work in restrained blues and navy. Our quiet luxury styling guide shows how the understated crowd actually wears silk.

For the Colour Lover

Some people dress for the room. The Carnival Wonderland A is a double-sided square with two complete artworks — a bold reversible piece that gives her two scarves in one box.

For the Animal Lover

Our most-gifted category. The Zoo Double-Sided is the storybook option; the Woodland Bear is the heavyweight twill many visitors browse first in autumn; and the Whiskered Court: Feline Chapter is for the cat person who already has the mug.

For the Woman Who Has Everything

The Reversible Silk Robe is our single most generous gift — a long, double-sided silk kimono printed with the animal-garden artwork. It is the present that gets photographed on Christmas morning, so it is worth ordering early.

For Him

A silk scarf under a wool coat is one of the quietest luxuries in menswear. The men's silk scarf edit gathers the darker, more graphic designs.

Timing Your Order

For Canadian Thanksgiving (October 12), order in the first week of October for the most comfortable delivery window within Canada. For American Thanksgiving (November 26), mid-November is safe for most US addresses. Everything ships from Toronto; if you are gifting across the border, allow a few extra days for customs.

Many of our clients also use Thanksgiving as a quiet start to holiday shopping — the Christmas silk scarf guide picks up where this one leaves off.

How to Present It

Fold the scarf in thirds, then in half, so the hand-rolled hem shows at the edge. Slip it into a flat box or a thick envelope with a handwritten note. If you want to go one step further, tuck in a card with one of the seven classic knots — the gift becomes something to do, not only something to own.

Caring for the Gift

A short note on care goes a long way with a first-time silk owner: cool hand wash or dry clean, no wringing, air-dry flat, and iron on low from the reverse. Our silk care guide covers everything in detail.
